Unlocking Green Deal Data Spaces: Enforce at the JRC & UvA Event in Amsterdam

On February 4, 2025, the Joint Research Centre (JRC) and the Universiteit van Amsterdam (UvA) hosted an event in Amsterdam to explore the challenges and opportunities of the Green Deal Data Space. The discussion brought together academic and policy experts to examine how Europe can bridge the digital and green transitions through innovative data governance.

Addressing Systemic Data Justice

The event focused on the JRC report “Unlocking Green Deal Data: Innovative Approaches for Data Governance and Sharing in Europe”, which introduced the concept of Systemic Data Justice. This framework prioritizes equity, accountability, and representation in environmental data governance, ensuring that data-driven decision-making remains transparent and inclusive.

Among the speakers, Anna Berti Suman from A Sud Ecologia e Cooperazione Odv contributed to the discussion by highlighting the role of citizen-generated data in compliance assurance across the EU. She also presented the work of Enforce, demonstrating how the project is advancing participatory environmental monitoring and governance.
