ENFORCE at the annual conference of the Association Citizen Science Italia

As part of the ENFORCE project, ASud took part in the annual conference of the Associazione Citizen Science Italia, contributing a talk titled “Legal and judicial horizons for an impactful citizen science” and hosting a public stand during the Citizen Science Day at the Botanical Garden of the University of Bologna.
The participation highlighted the intersection between citizen science and environmental law enforcement, showcasing how civic engagement can support communities in addressing ecological challenges through legal and institutional channels. The ENFORCE project’s focus on participatory models was brought to life through collaborations with grassroots organisations, including Comitato Valle Galeria Libera, which is tackling pollution linked to the Malagrotta landfill in Rome, and Cova Contro, a collective monitoring the environmental and health impacts of oil extraction in Basilicata.
As part of the public outreach, ASud also engaged visitors in a ‘sensory walk’—an interactive experience aimed at exploring environmental awareness through embodied perception, encouraging participants to reflect on their role in protecting local ecosystems.
ENFORCE continues to foster alliances between citizen science initiatives and legal advocacy, demonstrating how empowered communities can contribute to environmental justice across Europe.
